Residential Suthra Punjab tariffs are based on your plot size and whether your home is in an urban or rural area. The idea is simple: larger houses that generate more waste pay more, while rural and low-income areas face lower slabs.

3. How marla and kanal categories work (simple explainer)

  • Marla: in most schemes, 1 marla is roughly 225–272 sq ft. Sizes vary by city and housing society.
  • Kanal: 1 kanal equals 20 marla (around 4,500–5,445 sq ft depending on local standard).
  • Billing: Suthra Punjab uses the plot size on official records (registry / tax record), not your built-up area.

4. Sample household bill scenarios

Example 1: 5 marla urban home (Lahore)

  • Category: Up to 5 marla (urban)
  • Monthly fee: Rs 300
  • Yearly cost: Rs 3,600
  • Who usually pays: owner or tenant, based on rent agreement

Example 2: 10 marla urban home (Rawalpindi)

  • Category: 10 marla – 1 kanal (urban)
  • Monthly fee: Rs 1,000
  • Yearly cost: Rs 12,000
  • Impact: similar to a small internet package per month; should be visible in cleaner streets

Example 3: 1 kanal rural home

  • Category: 10 marla – 1 kanal (rural)
  • Monthly fee: Rs 400
  • Yearly cost: Rs 4,800
  • Note: same slab applies to larger rural houses above 2 kanal in many areas.

5. Common residential billing questions

What if my plot size is wrong on the bill?

If the marla / kanal category on your bill does not match your registry or tax records, visit your local waste management office with documents and request a correction. Corrections are usually reflected from the next billing cycle.

Why do urban residents pay more?

Urban collection is more frequent and more expensive: denser streets, more waste per house, and heavier use of vehicles. Rural households pay lower slabs to keep the system affordable while still funding basic services.
